It's a megablast...

title

Poster design for a New Years Eve party in Bristol curated by 'A Press Of Suspects'. I bought a pamphlet called 'Bristol and the Bomb' from St. Nicholas' Market which was printed at the height of the cold-war. Great, terrifying diagrams of the damage Bristol would incur if a bomb were to be dropped on the centre. So I replicated one for the poster.

Should be a good evening also, Principal Participant is playing live!

Harbour

title

Off to Berlin to see my good friend Paul's new show at Peres Projects.

After the success of his last one-man show in New York last year and his recent posting out in the desert somewhere in the middle of America, I'm very much looking forward to seeing the new work.

In Memory

title

Re-release of the original Joy Division albums in one box-set but with all typography and artwork removed from the album sleeves.

The sleeves themselves are matches for the original paper specs of the Factory first editions (black textured for Unknown Pleasures, slight "suede" for Closer, and "hessian" cloth [and ribbon] for Still, rounded corner inner sleeves for all) but without any information. All info & credits have been moved to a single large 12x12 matte black card sheet, with all info embossed in small type in gloss black. Design is credited to Peter Saville, Daniel Mason, Howard Wakefield.

More info at Cerysmatic Factory.

Goldfrapp

title

New Goldfrapp album 'Seventh Tree' is out Feb next year on Mute so I've rustled up a teaser site with video from Alison and Will Goldfrapp and the tracklisting.

This site has changed a few times over the last few months with video shot at the Goldfrapp studio (with kaleidoscopes), footage of an owl near a beach? and now this 8mm footage... very mysterious.

E. M. Washington

title

Trawling through Ebay looking for woodcut prints my wife stumbled upon some fantastic copies of Vortiscist artist Edward Wadsworth's 'Dazzle Ships in drydock Liverpool'.

However rather strangely the prints were dated 1924 by an E.M.Washington. Did a bit of searching and it turns out that they were made by a chap also called Earl Washington who had originally suggested his grandfather made them?! There's more info here and here, it's fascinating.

Anyway we've bought a few of the prints now and they're absolutely brilliant (and at a fraction of the cost of the originals!) Great story too!

The Kills

title

Had a meeting with Jamie and Alison from The Kills, they have a new album coming out soon and would like their websites to have a bit of fix-up. New single 'U.R.A. Fever' is out first so keep an ear out for that, it's very good.

Going to be building a 'news/blog' site that they can update from their mobile phones and another which will preview video and audio from the next releases.

Genuine Photo

title

Had an email from the Web Design Index people about including my photography site Genuine Photo in their next book.

It shows 100 photos taken all over the place with n rhyme nor reason really. Photos taken with a Ricoh GRD.

This one was taken near Stourhead at the bottom of King Alfred's tower.

New studio

title

Moving into a new studio from the 1st of Nov. It's near the top of Christmas Steps and has great views over the city.

Two large windows and enough room for three desks just need to get some stuff on the walls and the plants in...
