Feature. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
This video was created by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard for the title track of the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds album 'Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!' To promote the album seven short films were made and these are appearing on the official Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds website.
I designed and built the site and encoded the videos ready for Mute to drop them in when needed. The videos are all based upon the premise of a seance and can be viewed here. They are also available on YouTube
Feature. Grinderman
Foul-mouthed, noisy, hairy, and damn well old enough to know better this is the new Nick Cave band Grinderman. So we have rutting monkeys, rain on lightboxes, videos directed by The Proposition director John Hillcoat and pages torn from Nick's very own notebooks. Lots to delve into and explore.
The website also includes 'The Grinderman Podcast' an ongoing series featuring a number of fragments of recordings from the Grinderman writing session. Click here to view the site: Grinderman
Feature. Plague Songs
Commissioned by the British Art organisation Artangel lice, locusts, frogs, a 25-metre high sacrificial sculpture by Antony Gormley and a cast of thousands dramatically transformed the south coast town of Margate into a contemporary setting inspired by the Old Testament Book of Exodus...
Plague Songs was the associated album with various artists each writing a song based on one the ten plagues of Egypt. I created two sites one for the US and one for the UK, an interactive booklet and a timed screensaver which previewed the tracks in sequence over the month's events.
Feature - The Kills - Midnight Boom
Leading up to the release of 'The Kills' new album 'Midnight Boom' three websites were created. One for the release of the single 'U.R.A. Fever', the next for the the single 'Cheap and Cheerful' and finally a site for the album with exclusive streams of each song and postcards designed by the band.
Once the album was out then it was the turn of the fans to design and upload their artwork. The new 'Postcards' site enabled anyone to register, upload an image and then send it on to a friend with the site handling all image resizing and management. Some fan postcards above...
Feature. Moby - Last Night
Last Night is Moby's ninth studio album and was recorded in his home studio in Manhattan. Moby has said that 'Last Night' is basically a love letter to New York City, the eclecticism, the open minded-ness on the part of the musicians, the DJ's, and the people in the bars and clubs.
Using the TV images from the album artwork I created an animation showing the different press shots. As well as being able to watch the three videos from the album the site also offers an exclusive 10 minute mix download of all the tracks especially created by Moby.
